K-dramas to watch when you...

K-dramas are not just shows; they are an emotion. They make us feel excited, romantic, sad, eager, motivated, and so many more things. Needless to say, there’s a K-drama for every mood. So, I have taken it upon myself to make a list of shows for various states of mind in hopes that whenever you want a drama to match your mood and don’t know where to look, you can do so here.

K-dramas to watch when you…

1. Want a breath of fresh air: Summer Strike

Set in a beachside town, this show follows the story of a woman who is tired of her disastrous and hectic life and decides to impulsively move to a seaside village to simply exist. There, she finds love, home, family, and satisfaction in a way she never expected. Summer Strike is an extremely refreshing and warm drama that will make your heart find comfort in the little things.

2. Want to feel motivated: Itaewon Class

Nothing motivates me like Itaewon Class. This show teaches you why giving up should never be an option and that if you truly wish for something, all hardships can be overcome. It doesn’t shy away from showing you the harsh reality of life while simultaneously reminding you that for every bad thing in the world, there is more good to look forward to. The OST boosts your spirits and pushes you to make more of your life.

3. Want a head-scratcher with a side of romance: Flower of Evil

It shocks me that more people don’t talk about Flower of Evil because it is such an intense and riveting thriller. It’s shocking, unexpected, broody, and everything you look for in a mystery show. Things are never as they appear in this drama, which is what makes it worth the watch. The romance adds suspense and more emotion, providing a much-needed break from the fast-paced sequences of events.

4. Want to raise your standards in love: Her Private Life

Her Private Life is one of my comfort dramas, and I wish more people recognized it for the fluff-fest that it is. The main couple in this show are so healthy and stable, communicating with each other through all the turbulence in life. Rather than having petty fights and conflicts, they work through their own personal trauma while leaning on each other for support and familiarity. Ryan Gold raised my standards in love, and Sung Deok-mi is a fangirl, so I connected with her on a personal level. I adore this show, and I loved that the plot did not require the couple to be fighting all the time just to add some drama.

5. Want to feel happy: Extraordinary Attorney Woo

To be honest, every K-drama will make you happy, but I thoroughly enjoyed Extraordinary Attorney Woo. The show is about a genius lawyer named Woo Young Woo, who is on the autism spectrum. She loves whales and is a brilliant woman, albeit she struggles to articulate herself without being perceived through a biased lens. I loved the protagonist and the relationships she fostered in her life, never backing down when things got rough. This show will make your heart swell with joy and love.
